New Rules Passed at AGM

New Junior Champion

Bad Behaviour

Alcohol Ban

The club has resolved to ban alcohol on all its waters. This is to improve the clubs image, especially with landowners, who have expressed concern in the past. It also reinforces the ban on cans, which has been in force for many years, but is still a problem on many waters.

Minimum Landing Net Size

A minimum landing net size of 36" is introduced when targeting specimen fish. This is not aimed at the general angler, but is a request for common sense where large fish can reasonably be expected. There are clearly circumstances where a 36" net is insufficient for the quarry being sought.

Fish Treatment

The club strongly recommends the use of antiseptic fish treatment for hook holds in specimen fish. This is widely available and should be used wherever possible.

October saw the conclusion of this years Junior Championship.

It was an exciting competition this year. Moving into the last match, at Blackwall on the River Rother, Paul was tied with Simon so the winner of the match would take the championship.

Both started on the whip and caught small fish regularly. At the weigh in it was clearly going to be a close contest. Simon weighed 3lb 5 oz, but Paul scraped through with 3lb 9oz to take the title for the third time.

Congratulations to both for a well fished match, and for a good spirit throughout the tournament.

Unfortunately, this year has seen an increase in many aspects of bad behaviour on club waters.

A number of memberships have been terminated, and bailiffs will be taking a hard line with transgressors in the future. We will not allow our fishing to be put at risk by a few selfish individuals.

Examples of what has been happening:

Wierton. Night fishing, using boilies and using three rods. These are restrictions placed on us by the landowner, and transgression could result in the loss of the water.

Mote Park. Night fishing is on the increase and has led to police involvement. This is a fantastic water, but it would be too easy for the council to stop fishing altogether.

Aldington. Driving to the lake. The fence around the car park was removed to give better access for farm machinery. This is not an excuse to drive across the field and to the lake. The bridge is not safe and you are not insured.

If you see any poaching or rule breaking, contact a member of the committee or use the e-mail address on this web site. It is your fishing that will be lost!
